 Preaching Series Notes

22nd Jan Wake Up:  a fresh start    Ephesians 5 v8-16       Download Cell notes
When we begin the day recognising who God is, this inevitably has an impact on what happens next.  Whether it's putting sugar on our cereal or watching breakfast TV, we see things from a new perspective with Jesus at the helm
29th Jan Commute:  driving under the influence   Psalm 139 v7-12       Download Cell notes
We are all on a journey, where are we heading ?    When we next get into our cars, or onto a train, plane, bus, bike or by foot we can ask ourselves whether our journeys are headed in the right direction.
5th Feb Work:  doing business with God    Colossians 3 v12 - 4:2       Download Cell notes
Work has been an integral aspect of life even before the fall; it was part of the good and unspoilt creation plan.  The primary action of the church in our world is through the action of it's members in their daily work and 9-5 activities.
12th Feb Shop:  the Designers label     Philippians 4 v12-20        Download Cell notes
"I shop therefore I am" - Shopping has become the number one leisure activity for many in the West.  For some it's about getting more, getting better, and building up our image.   But the Bible tells us we are valuable already because of who made us, who we represent and the price that someone was willing to pay for us.
26th  Feb Cook:  generous servings    Matthew 9 v9-13
When God designed us to need nourishment, God loved us enough to give us taste buds and to provide food that would stimulate them.  When we read the stories of Jesus we find him often in peoples houses receiving their hospitality and building up relationships
4th Mar Fun:  pure pleasure     Luke 10 v17-21
Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever.  As we sing, dance, smile, joke and laugh we are anticipating that joy of heaven.  We all find out how our leisure time on earth can bring pleasure to God and glorify him ?

Family: it's all relative Matthew 12 v46-50              Download Cell notes
It's been said you can't choose your family; but whatever the state of our families, God can use them to show his love. What the Bible says about family resonates with our experience (good or bad) and helps us to see the time we spend with our relatives as a call on our lives and integral to our worship of our God

Exercise: fit for the King 1Corinthians 6 v19-20
It follows that since God, the master craftsman, created our bodies and takes care of them, then we should take care of them as well. We should not be ashamed of or careless with them as they are the vehicles God has chosen to pass on the baton of the gospel.

A subject dear to many of our hearts - a necessary activity that refreshes and revitalises us for the following day.  What does God have to say to us in the Bible about rest and sleep ?
